Elizabeth Lueking
After years of struggling with chemical dependency herself, Elizabeth Lueking desired to assist those who needed help with drug and alcohol addictions. In order to accomplish her goal, she returned to school and received her Masters of Divinity in 2004 from the Cincinnati Bible Seminary so that she could work with troubled youth who grew up in broken environments. Originally she began working with individuals in a church environment but decided that her preference was to outreach to those who were not part of the churches. In 2002, while attending seminary, she began the “Safe Haven for Teens,” which was a youth mentoring program for at-risk teens in Norwood, OH that offered a place to skateboard, free breakfasts, tutoring, day camp, mission trips, Bible studies, etc. After her funding diminished, she was forced to close the safe haven in 2005 and began attending the University of Kentucky to obtain her Masters in Social Work in 2008. During her education, she performed several internships including serving 6 months at the Talbert House in Cincinnati as an outpatient drug and alcohol counselor and one year at the Chrysalis House, an inpatient recovery program for women, in Lexington. In 2009, Elizabeth was certified as a DUI Instructor by Prime For Life and became a Certified Social Worker (CSW). Furthermore, she is working toward obtaining her Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) license.
Before becoming a Primary Counselor at Interlink Counseling Services in 2009, Elizabeth worked for almost two years at the Dismas Charities, which is a halfway house for state and federal inmates being reintegrated into society. Her duties at Interlink include doing casework for the clients under her supervision, conducting one on one counseling sessions, mentoring, aftercare planning, and teaching educational classes such as Prime For Life DUI for the inpatient program and relapse prevention. In addition to her professional career, Ms. Lueking volunteers as a worship pastor and a Bible study leader. Overall, Elizabeth clearly has a passion for helping those with chemical dependency issues and wishes to aid them in their recovery back into independent living.
