Jennifer Christopher
Jennifer Christopher began working for Interlink Counseling Services in 2008 as the administrative assistant to the Director of Operations. In this position, she performed several tasks including greeting incoming guests, directing calls, accepting charitable donations, explaining program entry to prospective clients, data entry, filing, and other administrative duties. In 2009, Jennifer became the new Intake Coordinator in the residential building. Her new job responsibilities included receiving incoming clients and completing their intake information, taking client photographs and creating their identification badges, assigning them to their respective rooms and beds, passing out medications, logging new medications into the computer system and performing quality assurance, conflict resolution, maintaining HMIS client demographics, and participating and volunteering at Interlink sponsored events. Along with her intake responsibilities, she is the personal assistant to the Clinical Manager and facilitates his filing and paperwork.
Jennifer is constantly striving to increase her knowledge and understanding of client difficulties especially in the area of mental and physical health. At Northern Kentucky University in 2009, she took several training courses sponsored by the Kentucky School of Alcohol and Other Drug Studies with a total of 24 hours. Some of the classes included the following: Habits of Highly Effective Counselors when Assessing and Treating Drug Abuse, the Addiction Pharmacy Series, the Neurology and Pharmacology of ADD/ADHD, and Crisis Intervention with the Substance Dependent Individual. Furthermore, she attended a medical program through Norton at PRP for fours years where she learned about medications, how to test blood pressures, and other medical activities. In addition to being certified to perform first aid and CPR, she was certified in Disruptive Behavior by the VA in 2009. At Interlink, Jennifer also attends clinical supervision sessions and has received HIPAA and VHA Privacy training. Being a mother of three children, Jordan (6), Dylan (4), and Ciara (1), has given Jennifer the ability to care for others and provide empathy for those who are struggling. Jennifer said, “Working with the homeless veterans at Interlink Counseling Services is rewarding and very enjoyable.”
