Assessment: The first step in resolving a DUI court order is assessing the clients needs and notifying the referring court of their enrollment with Interlink. The assessment process will take approximately 90 minutes and includes completion of all necessary intake paperwork, answering a mandated state designed assessment questionnaire, and an individual interview with a certified DUI assessor. After the assessment is completed, the client is given a date to begin their education/treatment classes.
The assessor determines which recommendations need to be completed in order for the client to be in compliance with the court and state guidelines.
In the assessment process, the client will be informed of Interlink’s recommendations, sign a treatment plan that is developed by both the assessor and the client, sign a fee agreement, and be enrolled in the appropriate program.
DUI Education
Based on the mandated, state-assessment questionnaire score and the assessment counselor’s recommendations, a client will be required to attend classes and/or weekly group sessions from 30 days up to 1 year as long as the client does not miss any sessions.
Topics that will be covered include the following:
Why am I here? Looking at my lifestyle
A closer look at alcohol
Long-term effects of alcohol abuse
Patterns of use and abuse
A closer look at substance abuse and dependence
Risk factors of addiction
Thinking, feeling and acting
Driving under the influence
Alcohol, other drugs and relationships
Values and decision-making process
Getting ready for change
Benefits of change
Individual Counseling
We focus on the needs of each individual by careful assessment. Counseling is provided to discuss each client’s progress in the program and to address issues that are more private in nature.
Outpatient Program
We believe that recovery is a constant growth process. The Outpatient program is designed to facilitate this development. Outpatient programs may include self-help group awareness along with group and/or individual counseling.
Inpatient Program
If a DUI client needs more exhaustive treatment, they may be referred to Interlink’s intensive 30, 60, or 90 day treatment program. During this period, clients are allowed to work, and Interlink staff will develop a treatment plan that complements the client’s work schedule. In order to accommodate everyone, Interlink provides a sliding fee scale from $40 to $120 per day based upon the client’s financial situation.
Treatment education may consist of sessions on chemical dependency, relapse prevention, life skills, time management, and family integration.
Case Management
Case management involves interacting with referral sources and community support services to ensure an effective continuum of care for the client.
Obtaining My Drivers License
Once a client has attended all of the recommended education/treatment, they will receive a completion notice that enables them to have their drivers license reinstated. Interlink will notify both the referring court and the Transportation Cabinet’s Division of Drivers Licensing.
The client will be given paperwork informing them of the procedure to have their drivers license reinstated. The paperwork will contain the appropriate facilities and addresses in which the client will need to take the completion notice along with the appropriate fees necessary to ensure their license is reinstated.
Interlink maintains a copy of each client’s records for a period of five years.
